blog:Haunted Hallow
So we went out to Haunted Hallow studios and recorded a six song demo. By we I mean me, Darrell Muller, Sam Wilson, and Brian Jones. Just in case you didn’t know, Brian Jones is a serious bad ass. Really really good. Anyway, the session went way better than anticipated. So for those of you wondering if I have been writing and recording, I have.
We recorded live and for the first time ever I recorded my vocals and guitar at the same time. Not too standard I know, but it worked out well because it was no natural. I had sight lines to everybody (the studio is sick and maybe the greatest studio in the world-certainly the greatest studio I have ever been in) so that made for a much more reasonable situation concerning how we were recording this. I could see Sam the whole time and we have played so much together at this point that with just a nod or a head tilt we knew where we were going. Darrell, as always, showed up with some sick bass parts. He had done a number of gigs with me, and we were able to work a lot of the songs out. But, like the master he is, he showed up with a few surprises for everyone (and I mean bass surprises, not just the bourbon). And if you know Jonesy, you know he played the coolest shit on this planet.
If any of y’all are interested, I’ll bring a song or two to a show that you are at. Let me know.
